Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.
Another victory in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Moment
This match offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.
A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched even for a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton went close soon after, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee dismissed the appeals.
Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had hit the post.
Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
